We've lived in several places throughout the USA, but Los Angeles is my favorite. It's been our home for the last two years and I hope nothing changes that. The greater L.A. area is a world unto itself: overcrowded with people and excitement, frustrating but incredible, beautiful and smoggy all at once.
I shot this while Patrick and I went for a good old-fashioned Sunday Drive™ (no, I wasn't driving). The drive served two purposes: 1) It gave us a chance to spend some time together before he departs for Wyoming way too early tomorrow morning, and 2) It gave us some relief from the noisy pool party happening next to us.
We live right next to our HOA's pool, so we hear everything that's going on over there. We hear every instance of shouting, every time someone plays their music just a little too loud, even the times when someone's voice carries just a little bit. It's been a source of frustration for us, but especially me due to my issues with sound (misophonia). The constant noise, especially at this time of year, is one complaint I have about where we live since nothing we do (fan for white noise, falling asleep with the TV on, headphones, etc.) completely drowns it out.
The drive didn't completely save us from the worst of the pool party, so falling asleep will be difficult, if not impossible. Then there's that thing about getting up early for a ride to the airport, which I'll repeat Friday morning when I depart on my own flight to visit family.
Sleep? I think I did that once...
