Well, this is it – the very last photo! Tomorrow I turn 30.

I must pat myself on the back for a moment and say I am impressed that I stayed with this project every day for a whole year. Yay me! It’s not like I ever really thought about quitting it, but there were times when it wasn’t easy, like when I just didn’t have anything interesting to shoot. Sometimes I felt like I was throwing a photo out there simply because I had to, not necessarily because it was that interesting — and I know I did. But, this project was a huge factor in teaching myself how to use my camera. I went from knowing nothing about operating a DSLR to feeling somewhat confident that I can manipulate settings so I get the results I want. As far as learning photographic technique, the exercise of shooting a photo every single day taught me tons. I tried a lot of things — some more successful than others — and I was constantly thinking of what might make an interesting photo op. It helped me visualize everyday things and see them as photographic gems (or not). I also learned that I enjoy photography and MUST continue learning, because dammit, I wanna get good at this. I plan on taking a class or two sometime in the future so I can refine my technique and go from there.

Thanks to everyone who’s taken a look at the photoblog over the last year, whether it was an occasional glance or a devoted look through every photo. Your feedback and comments were incredibly helpful to me and kept me psyched about the project simply because I knew other people out there were taking a look. Again, thank you.

For future photography projects, keep tabs on my personal website, Oh, the Profanity!, and my portfolio.

Peace!

On Fridays, I design the business section that runs Sunday. It’s fun if I have something to play up, but if not, it’s a pretty standard page. Today was such a day. It was about as exciting as this photo.

On top of that, I started putting together a new business graph that runs on the bottom of the page; each week, the graph shows trends in gas prices, oil production, unemployment numbers, etc., and rotate them each week. We build the graphs in InDesign, which is shamefully not my area of expertise. Nevertheless, I figured out how InDesign takes the data set and translates it into a graph, so boo-ya!

Any guesses?

The Falls is my favorite place on Casper Mountain. It’s so pretty and peaceful (as long as it’s not overcrowded by a bunch of children). I’ve been wanting to do this photo for months; when I first started coming back to Casper in November/December, I knew that wasn’t the right time, so I held off, and then didn’t make the time later on. We were looking for something to do today, so we went for a drive and this was one of our stops.

He has a rather eclectic and entertaining collection of toys lining his cubicle wall. I wonder what these two could possibly be talking about. And what’s with the Carrot Top-like dude wearing a Willy Wonka suit creeping in on the conversation?
